Some of the team were in Geneva earlier this month giving evidence at the 113th session of the CERD committee. Our senior policy officer, Grace, shared our recommendations to the committee. Our report, which includes these recommendations, can be found here.

Equality and Social Justice Unit (ESJU)

It’s been a slower month for the Equality & Social Justice Unit in August – largely due to people enjoying their summer holidays! This has allowed for us to work on updating our education microsite, making it even more accessible and helpful for community members to find the information that they’re looking for. Keep an eye on our social media for the link to the updated site in the next couple of weeks. We’d welcome your feedback! Ten lucky IDVAs from across London have been selected to attend our pilot programme ‘Supporting Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Irish Traveller survivors’ next month! This month, we’re supporting members of the Women’s Empowerment Network to become community trainers and deliver the programme they co-designed.

We’ve teamed up with our sister organisation, Open Doors Education and Training (ODET) to deliver FREE driving theory sessions (delivered online, and on a 1:1 basis with a private tutor) for young Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Irish Traveller young people in London. Spaces on this programme are currently full but do keep an eye on our social media in case a space opens! TM Summer BBQ and Networing Event

The Traveller Movement Annual Summer BBQ and Networking Event took place on the last day of July, and not only were we luck with the weather, but the food was great and there were many people visiting the office and speaking with the team.
